- Guiding CRRIs in managing neuro cases

- Postgraduates are guided in doing their “thesis”
Services Rendered
OUT PATIENT SERVICES: Neurological services are being rendered to the poor and needy patients through outpatient clinic. Patients with Headaches, Epilepsy, Stroke, Parkinsons disease and other movement disorders, Dementias, Cervical Spondylosis, Low Backache, Neuralgic pains, peripheral neuropathies and neuromuscular disorders are treated in outpatient clinics.
- IN-PATIENT SERVICES:
- Exclusive 20 bedded neurology ward with 4 bedded Neuro Critical Care Unit to render neurological services.
- In-patients referred from other specialities like general medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedics, E.NT, ophthalmology, dermatology, paediatrics, medical oncology, surgical oncology, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, urology, nephrology and cardiology are given opinion regarding their neurological problem.
- NEURO CRITICAL CARE UNIT:
- Fully functional dedicated 9 bedded NeuroCritical Care Unit with Ventilator and Plasmapheresis facility available.
- Transcranial Doppler is available for monitoring raised ICP.
- NEURO INTERVENTION:
- Biplane Cathlab for neurological intervention is available for stroke care.
- Memorandum of Understanding is signed between Govt Kilpauk Medical College and Stroke & Neurointervention Foundation (SNIF) for starting 2 years fellowship on NEUROINTERVENTION.
- ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY LAB: The following tests are done in electrophysiology lab of department of neurology.
- Electroencephalogram (EEG)
- Electromyography
- Nerve Conduction Study
- Repetitive Nerve Stimulation Study (RNS)
- Sympathetic skin response
- Visual evoked potentials (VEP)
- Brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEP)
- Somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP)
- SLEEP LAB:
- Video EEG facility is available.
- AWARENESS PROGRAMMES: Patient Awareness Programmes are conducted on Stroke and Epilepsy periodically.
- REHABILITATION SERVICES: Neuro-Rehabilitation was offered to needy patients in association with Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
- BOTULINAM TOXIN INJECTION: Botulinum toxin injections are also given for selected patients with movement disorders and spasticity.
- STROKE THROMBOLYSIS: For Acute Ischemic Stroke, patients(eligible patients)presenting within 4 ½ hours of window period, are treated with intravenous thrombolysis.
