It is the broad vision of GOVT.of tamil nadu a pioneer in health care in the country to meet the challenge of explosion of vascular diseases brought about by the increased life span of citizens of tamil nadu as a result of better implementation of improved health care delivery systems across all levels of health care in tamil nadu, that has decided to start one more department of vascular surgery at GOVT.kilpauk medical college and hospital with a mission to provide quality and state of the art vascular surgical care to patients attending GOVT.kilpauk medical college and hospital and to impart education and training in vascular surgery to under graduates and post – graduates and to educate patients in prevention of vascular diseases and to engage in clinical and basic research studies and to evolve better modalities of prevention and treatment of vascular diseases. Gets referrals from various departments including GEN.MEDICINE, GEN.SURGERY,OB & GYN,ORTHO, UROLOGY, NEPHROLOGY ,SURGICAL GASTROENTEROLOGY AND DIABETOLOGY. Takes care on the following categories of the patients with 1 ACUTE DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS. 2 DIABETIC FOOT. 3 PERIPHERAL ARTERISL DISEASES Including TAO,atherosclerotic occlusive disease,aortic aneurysm, aortoilliac occlusion, femoro popliteal occlusion etc.. 4 VARICOSE VEINS OF LOWER LIMB. 5 PERMANENT A-V ACCESS FOR PATIENTS UNDERGOING HEMODIALYSIS IN DEPT OF NEPHROLOGY. 6 ASSISTING THE UROLOGIST IN PERFORMING RENAL TRANSPLANTATION AT GOVT.KMC & H. FUTURE PLANS: 1 As the trauma block is under construction ,active vascular trauma care will be provided in near future. 2 There is a proposal to start an endovascular suite at GOVT.KMC & H to treat patients with peripheral arterial & venous diseases by endovascular surgery. 3 There is a proposal to start Mch course in vascular surgery and endovascular surgery at GOVT.KMC & H. |
