OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of OBGYN is a major clinical department with
qualified and experienced faculty consisting of Professors,
Associate professors and Assistant Professors and Senior Resident
doctors. They are aided in the clinical work by postgraduate
resident doctors. The department runs 3 units and a separate family
planning unit and microsurgery unit
Outpatient facilities are available on all days of the week.
- Inpatient facilities are available round the clock with 300 beds
- There is a clean fully equipped, laQshya certified, platinum
branded labour room and an obstetric intensive care unit. - There is also a well-equipped septic labour room.
- There is a fully functional high dependency unit to manage all
the high risk referral cases as ours is a tertiary care centre. - There is a 24×7 functioning major Operation Theatre and
minor operation theatre for the full range of obstetric surgical
services. - 2 separate state of the art operation theatres for
gynaecological procedures and family planning services. - Well-equipped microsurgical theatre for tubal reanastomosis.
- Newly installed Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) set up.

A few details about the scope of our services is mentioned
below:
Comprehensive and holistic care for the pregnant women is
provided with the highest level of evidence based guidelines.
These include identifying and timely treatment of high risk
pregnancies.
- The department offers seamless labour to all mothers coming
in for delivery. - Pregnancy complications including medical disorders like
seizures, stroke, cardiac diseases are managed with multidisciplinary approach
GYNAECOLOGICAL SERVICES :
The Department caters to women coming with all genital bleeding
problems. They are subjected to systematic care under the
guidance of all the experienced faculty.
Screening for all genital cancers is provided namely PAP smear,
Colposcopy guided cervical biopsy, mammogram, endometrial
biopsy.
Minimal invasive surgery / Keyhole surgery is the one of the core
focus of the department. Many procedures which are possible to be
done by this technique are done using advanced techniques. These
include

- Diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy
FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES
Family planning surgery is offered for those seeking the same.
All couples are offered the entire range of contraceptive services
(pills, injections) based on the women’s choice.
MTP services are also provided by adhering to national and local
government guidelines.
FERTILITY CARE
For couples suffering with infertility, wide range of Assisted
Reproductive Techniques is provided.

- Diagnostic hysterolaparosopy and operative
hysterolaparoscopy
The goal of the department is to provide assisted reproductive
techniques within the reach of the general population.
DEPARTMENT INFRASTRUCTURE :
OPD
- 8 consultation rooms
- 6 Examination rooms
- Cancer screening room for Pap smear and breast examination
- Video-Colposcopy room
- Antenatal scan Room
- Designated laboratory services room right next to consultation
room to minimise exertion for all antenatal mothers. - Integrated counselling and testing centre for HIV 1 AND 2
where free testing and counselling is done. - The OPD has a patient waiting lounge with a seating capacity
of 50 patients. The OPD is well staffed with a Staff nurses,
counsellors, lab technicians and helper staff.
IPD (In-patient Department)
- Antenatal ward

- The wards are well ventilated, clean and sanitized with
adequate number of cots and bedside lockers for each patient. - Every ward has examination and procedure rooms, well
equipped nurse’s station with crash carts carrying all
emergency drugs. - Clean linen is provided to al,l the patients on a daily basis.
OT / Labour Room Complex
Major OT - 2 well equipped, air-conditioned dedicated OTs for OBG,
operate round-the-clock with well-trained OT staff and duty
anaesthesia team. - 2 infant warmers in the designated neonatal resuscitation
corner with round the clock duty paediatrics team.
Recovery Room - With 6 beds available adjacent to the OT for all post-OP
patients with monitors for intensive, immediate post-OP care.
Labour Room Complex - Spacious, well ventilated labour complex with pre-labour
waiting room with 8 beds, having the facility for continuous
fetal monitoring and multipara monitoring. Labour / Delivery
Room - Having 6 labour delivery cots, having continuous foetal
monitoring facility and ultrasonography machine for emergency
cases.
Neo-natal Resuscitation Room - Provided with advanced neo-natal resuscitation units in a
sterile, sanitized environment with duty paediatrics team in
attendance 24/7.
High dependency unit - 14 bedded intensive care unit with multipara monitoring
connected to a central monitoring system. Life supporting
equipments such as ventilators, NRBM, portable X-ray,
ultrasonogram for echocardiography and FAST are available in
optimum working condition. Round the clock intensivist available
for management of all high risk patients.
Immediate Post-natal / Post-partum Ward/ Post operative ward - With 30 beds, being staffed with experienced nurses who
assist the new mother in feeding and baby care.
Gynaecology OT - Fully functioning OT with provisions for laparoscopy,
hysteroscopy and various gynaecvological surgeries.
Gynaecology ward
25 bedded pre operative ward and 25 bedded post operative ward
with separate dressing room and examination room.
CMCHIS ward
A separate ward for patients who undergo procedures both
diagnostic and operative under the CMCHIS scheme.
Family planning ward
20 bedded ward for all family planning patients- pre operative and
post operative.
Microsurgery ward
Separate microsurgery ward to accommodate patients who have
been admitted for tubal recanaliosation.
Microsurgery OT
A sterile, functional microsurgery OT for tubal recanalisation open
since 1987
